Southern California Trip Part 2 - Disneyland/California Adventure

We went to Disneyland/California Adventure Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday we started off with a bang. The lines to Disneyland looked very long so we opted for California Adventure. We went on their big roller coaster first. Last time we had come Tucker had been too short to go on the Screamin but this time he was more than tall enough. Trent and Talia rode together and Tucker and I were behind them. Let's just say Tucker wasn't real excited about going on this ride but we encourage him to try it once and if you don't like it don't ride it again. Let's just say he didn't want to ride EVER again. It actually made me kind of sick also. Tucker has the same motion sickness problem that I do, so we both agreed not to ride it again. On the other hand Talia LOVED that ride and would have gone on it more if her family members had stronger stomachs. We went on a couple more rides at California Adventure and then headed to Disneyland. We went on the Buzz Lightyear ride, the Matterhorn, and Small World. We also went on the Thunder Mtn. Ride which is one of my favorite rides. We then discovered the Splash Mountain ride which was Tucker's favorite ride. We rode that ride once as a family and then the kids went on it with a fast pass where they didn't have to wait in line. I get wet enough riding it once. My jeans were soaked on one side. They made Trent sit in the front and he got soaked. It was lots of fun to see him get wet. We also watched the Jedi Knight show, rode the train around Disneyland and went on the Autotopia ride. Talia got to drive a car by herself and Trent was lucky enough to ride with Tucker as the driver. We didn't get to all the rides but we aren't willing to stand in line forever for a ride. Disneyland had a new Finding Nemo submarine but the line was over an hour long and there were no fast passes so we never went on it. We heard it wasn't worth the wait. We were worn out by 6:00 and walked back to the hotel where we ate dinner and swam.

Wednesday we started out at Disneyland and were able to ride the Indiana Jones ride before the lines got long. We also went to Tarzan's tree house, the Jungle tour and the Haunted House. Then kids went back to the Splash Moutain and went on it 4 times because there were no lines at first and then we had fast passes. We just let them go together so that we didn't have to get wet. It was still morning and it wasn't warm enough to get wet at least for me. We also went on the Thunder Mtn. ride again. After lunch we met up with some old friends of ours who live near Disneyland. The Bartmesses used to live in Tigard and were in our old ward. They now have 3 girls and it was so fun to see them and spend the rest of the afternoon and evening with them. We met them at California Adventure and we checked out the Brother Bear obstacle course. Then we went on the Grizzly Rapids ride where you also get wet. I was talked into going on this ride and ended up quite wet. Luckily it was warmer out and so we dried off quickly. Then we headed over to the Bug's Life area and did the balloon ride, the bumper cars and the Flick ride. We had fast passes for the California Soarin ride which is a very cool ride. It makes you feel like you are flying all around California and the photography is amazing. We went back to Disneyland and checked out the Sleeping Beauty castle and then went on Thunder Mtn. again. The kids wanted to go on Splash Mtn. for the 6th time but it was cold and late so we said no. We ended up going on the Indiana Jones ride and the Jungle tour ride again. Afterwards we went to Red Robin for dinner. It was soooo fun to see our old friends and spend that much time with them. I miss you Tamarah!

Our original plan was to go to Legoland on Thursday but Tucker started throwing up early Thursday morning and didn't stop until Thursday afternoon. We can't go on vacation without Tucker being sick and throwing up at least one day. Talia and I went to California Adventure in the afternoon and Talia rode the big Screamin roller coaster again by herself. I didn't want to have a headache for the rest of the day. After riding the roller coaster we headed over to Disneyland and checked out Toon Town and got to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Then we headed over to see the Princesses so that Talia could tell Belle, "Hi", from her teacher. Her teacher's favorite princess is Belle because she loves to read. We waited in line for 90 mintes to see 4 princesses but it was fun and we got some fun pictures. I think Talia is getting close to being too old for Princesses. I let her get her face painted afterwards and it looked great. We went and met up with Trent and Tucker afterwards to go another friend's, Robert and Heather Redding, house that lived near Disneyland. These were friends from BYU and we hadn't seen them in almost 9 years. They fed us dinner and luckily Tucker was feeling better by then. We warned them about Tucker but they said come anyways. It was so fun to catch up with them and to meet their 2 year little boy. Talia had a lot of fun playing with their 2 year old and Tucker had fun playing with their 2 dogs. The evening went by way too fast.
