Way to Go Tucker !

Tucker received an award at school today.  His award was for the monthly life skill they were focusing on which was Problem Solving.  He has the GREATEST teacher, Ms. Elenbaas and Tucker has had an excellent year.  I am so grateful for amazing teachers and amazing schools.

A Joyful Easter!!

I love Easter and love to celebrate the holiday.  I probably went overboard in decorating but it was very fun.  We had a fabulous  Easter day.  It was a gorgeous day!  The Easter program at church was wonderful and really brought the spirit.  I played the piano for the Primary children and they sang beautifully.  This was the last time Talia got to sing with the primary before she turned 12.  I got a hand me down suit from my friend so Tucker looked really sharp.  Talia looked beautiful and curled her own hair.  She is better at fixing hair than I am.  The Easter bunny brought too much candy for Talia and Tucker.  Their favorite things in their Easter baskets are the eggs with the coins and dollar bills in them and their chocolate bunnies.

                                                       

We had delicious dinner and an Easter Egg hunt with our friends, the Holmes family,  after church.  In the Easter Egg hunt there were 2 golden eggs with some special prizes inside.  The kids didn't even care about finding the other eggs all they wanted was the golden eggs.  Talia and Tucker were lucky enough to find them and they were well hidden.  It was a wonderful day and I am so grateful for this holiday to celebrate our Savior!

2012 Pinewood Derby

This was Tucker's 2nd Pinewood Derby and him and his dad worked very hard on his car.  They tried a lot of things to make it faster.  It was definitely faster than his car from last year.  Tucker's car won a few races and and then was damaged by another car.  It was still able to race.  He had a great time at the Pinewood Derby.  He didn't win first and he didn't come in last.  That I am grateful for.  He had a good time making his car and he had a good time at the activity.  I am so grateful for the Scouting program and for what he is learning, the relationships he is building and all the fun that he is having.

Swim Meet at Palm Springs!

Talia and Tucker had a swim met at Palm Springs in April.  It was a beautiful day for a swim meet and Talia and Tucker did very well.  They took time off of their events and had a lot of fun.  Tucker swam in the morning and Talia swam in the afternoon so it made for a long day but it is always fun to watch them compete!!

Spring Break Fun!!

The kids were SO excited to have no school for 2 weeks.  It was so nice not to have homework or as many things scheduled for 2 weeks.  There was lots of sleeping in, playing with friends, and too much screen time.  The highlights of the break was our trip to the beach with lots of friends from church and our trip to the zoo.

The beach was beautiful and it was actually a warm day with very little wind.  Talia and Tucker swam, boogie boarded and played in the waves.  They also played with all the sea creatures that they caught which is included sand crabs and a hermit crab.  Tucker's friend had a fishing pole and actually caught something to his mom's surprise.  It was a perfect day and the kids didn't want to leave.

 

We were also able to go to the San Diego Zoo. We have Zoo and Safari Park passes but we usually go to the Safari Park since it is closer. The zoo was a little crowded with it being Spring Break but we still had a great time. We started out in Tucker's favorite part of the zoo the reptile house. Then we went to this Bug Show where Talia was picked to go up in front of everyone. She actually was talked or pressured into eating a cheese flavored maggot. Notice the pleasant look on her face as she was eating the bug. Tucker even tried them and liked them. He said they tasted like store brand cheetos. I did not try them even with Talia and Tucker trying to convince me to do it. We were able to see most of the animals except for the pandas which had a 2 hour wait to get in. It was a very fun day! I love spending time with my kiddos.

April Fool's Day

Talia was very excited about April Fool's day this year.  We had some friends over to celebrate with us.  We had a delicious dinner and then enjoyed the hot tub and pool.  Talia spent a lot of time working on her April Fool's joke.  Can you guess what it was?  She was successful in tricking our friends.
